SECTION 9. OVERVIEW

Jute (sometimes known as burlap) is a coarse asphalt saturated organic fabric. This product is manufactured to conform to the requirements of ASTM specification D-1327 - Standard Specification for Bitumen-Saturated Woven Burlap Fabrics in Roofing and Waterproofing.
There is no chemical hazard from this material. Too much fiberglass dust in the air will be irritating to the respiratory tract and eyes, but this is not likely to happen with this material. Glass fiber particles are irritating to the skin. Wear gloves. Shower and clean work clothes daily is recommended.
