Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics Facility Awarded ISO 14001:2004 Certification
Standard Recognizes Environmentally Friendly Manufacturing Processes

(Grand Island, NY) – Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics, makers of FibaTape®, FibaCrete®, SureScreen™ and OEM reinforcement fabrics, today announced that the company’s building materials manufacturing center in Tlaxcala, Mexico has received the ISO 14001:2004 certification, the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems.

Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics plans to secure the ISO:14001:2004 certification for all five of its North American manufacturing facilities by early 2011.

“As a global leader in the development of products used in construction, Saint-Gobain offers many innovative solutions for saving energy and protecting the environment,” said Mike Heburn, Director of Operations for Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics. “We are pursuing the ISO 14001:2004 certification at all of our North American manufacturing facilities to demonstrate that our commitment to Earth-friendly practices extends to our internal processes as well.”

Established by the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 14001:2004 is a management tool that enables organizations to identify and control the environmental impact of its activities, products or services, improve its environmental performance continually, and implement a systematic approach for setting and achieving environmental objectives and targets.

The systematic ISO 14001:2004 approach requires organizations to undertake a thorough review of all the areas where its activities have an environmental impact, leading to reduced costs for waste management, reduced consumption of energy and materials, lower distribution costs, improved company image, and the establishment of a framework for continual improvement.

The certification process was conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LQRA), a market leader in the provision of ISO 14001 assessment, certification and training.
